Just purchased this 2 days before New years eve and it came on New Years Eve. So on New Years day I Found the studs on my wall and mounted the Unit. Definitely go with the wall studs. I do not know why they give you 4 screws with plastic anchors, Definitely would scare me to mount this on those. So I found a great spot for it and it looks beautiful. My particular Model came with both, Pebble and Log Inserts. By Default the Log inserts where Inserted First. and I choose to leave it in there as it looked great. I contacted there customer support in regards to the Heater blower being on the top and they assured me it was approved and tested and would not cause a fire. Granted after having it one for around 45 minutes The Sheetrock it was mounted on did get extremely hot. But I have left it on for a while no and see no signs of any fire.SO far so good, and there customer Service informed me NO ONE in the history of the company has ever complained about these fireplaces causing a fire. So for those worried about the heat I would say don't worry too much, but if you are paranoid I guess you can reroute the heat but that would definitely take away from the look of this and make it look not as sleek and nice. For the money I would say 200 bucks not too bad but I do not know if it was worth all that as it does look nice you cant compare it to a real fire looking fireplace or some of the more expensive ones. But it does the job. I am satisfied thus Far, I will update this if it changes. Also the Remote it comes with has no batteries it takes triple A and the Range even in my smaller room I found I had to be within 2 feet of it to get it to actually work with no delay. At one point one of the buttons got Stuck. And I thought the remote broke, so Before you think it breaks make sure none of the buttons are stuck down. This fireplace is well constructed. The front glass looks great and the fire looks realistic. There are even handles built into the sides to make hanging the unit safe and easy. One downside is that the heat exits the top of the unit very near the wall. The wall immediately above the unit gets very hot. As another user did, I made a metal deflector to direct the heat away from the wall and more toward the room. When the unit is just sitting on the floor in the middle of the room and turned on for testing purposes, the heater fan is very quiet. Since the heater intake is on the top rear of the unit, the fan gets much louder when you mount the fireplace to the wall. It's not unbearable but it would be nice if it were as quiet as when not against the wall.I also made a zip tie mount for the excess power cord under the right side of the unit, out of view. It might have been nice if the manufacturer had thought of that.Another nice feature might be a room thermostat, but hey, you can't have everything in this reasonably priced electric fireplace. If not for the need for heat, however, you could almost just as well buy a cheap 32" LCD TV, hang it on the wall, and play a continuous movie of a fire on it . . .Overall I recommend this fireplace as it's nice for the money. This item was recieved in good condition and ahead of the estimated delivery date. The "fire" looks very attractive and natural, although it looks more realistic on the lower brightness settings, and more like a display on the brightest settings. This was bought as a Christmas present for my daughter, and she told us that installation on her bedroom wall was very quick and easy (15 minutes by herself). It was bought primarily to help heat the bedroon (about 180 sqft) and and attached bath (about 40 sq ft) . According to my Daughter it takes about 30 minutes to warm up the bedroom, and a hour to get the bedroom and bath both warm. The only negative is that its a little loud, and that was made a little worse after it was hung on the wall (maybe minor vibration from the fan) She rates the unit as a 4 or five and is very pleased with itEasy to mount, but heat comes out of the top, so I had to find a "deflector shield" so the ledge above where I needed to place the unit did not get too hot. I used a 90 degree metal angle section meant for actual heater/AC home systems and painted it black. DO NOT TRY to use a cheap plastic deflector, as I melted one of those at the high heat setting (it was OK at the low heat level, but....). The unit projects a bit further out from the wall than others I have seen, but all in all it looks great, works well, and was MOST REASONABLE.I originally purchased this product in October of 2014. We used it as a supplemental heat source in a small bedroom so it saw quite a bit of use....meaning it ran all night, every night, from October to April or May, as well as some days when it was particularly cold (we live in PA). It lasted until October of 2018. We felt it was a pretty good value considering the price, so we purchased the exact same model within a couple days of the first one breaking. That one lasted only 4 months before it stopped working. Thankfully, it has a one year warranty. All I did was email customer service (at the address in the instruction manual), and received my replacement within 2 weeks. They didn't even ask for the broken one to be returned. The wife told me it was the best X-mass present ever. I only use it for the flames as i had to block where the heat comes out (from the top) that's ok for me i don't need it for the heat, i put it in a empty space left when I went from a big projection screen TV to a flat panel I only had a space of 18" high so i was very limited but it worked great for me, my wife loves it so I'm happy. cons, the remote sometimes is hard to turn on or off but usually works if pressing the button several times and pointing it directly at the fire place, not a mojor issue as long as it dosent get worse.
